Type of psoriasis
       Psoriasis Vulgaris

         This is the common type of psoriasis with classic features. Depending on the activity the disease psoriasis vulgaris may be stable or unstable. This differentiation is important to decide the type of psoriasis . In active disease there will be more redness, more scaling and frequent appearance of newer lesions.

       Guttate Psoriasis

         In this type of psoriasis where in crops of ‘ rain drop like’ lesion occur on trunk. This usually is followed by a bacterial infection . To a great extent it may settle by itself after a period if tissue . Rarely it may lead to psoriasis vulgaris.

       Nail Psoriasis

         Along with the classical disease, the nails, palms and soles also show involvement. On the nails various changes occur as small depression known as ‘nail pits’, separation of nail plate from the nail be and distinction of nail plate.

       Pustular Psoriasis

         This an emergency in psoriasis. Here prompt treatment should be started as early as possible. The disease is characterized by lakes of pus in the skin as well as presence of discrete pustules. This will occur all over the body, mainly over the trunk and limbs. This is associated with constitutional features like fever, head ache, malaise , fatigability , etc.

       Scalp Psoriasis

         The scalp show lesions similar to the classical ones but the redness is not very marked and scaling are more. Scales are more greasy in appearance

       Exfoliative dermatitis

         In this form of psoriasis, the entire skin may turn red with scaling. The patient may be haemodynamically unstable and requires to be treated urgently. In extremes of age, this type of psoriasis is fought with the danger of life.

       Psoriatic arthritis

         This is a special type of psoriasis where arthritis occur with psoriasis. Arthritic psoriasis may occur before the onset of psoriasis , after it and along with it. In rare occasions the arthritis is crippling with severe pain and limited motility . Still rarely it may lead to mutilation. It can involve any joint of the body with swelling and pain. Without proper treatment , the disease may progress.
